Kenlyn Gordon
Owner & LMHC
I feel my role is to help you come to deeply know yourself and heal from the inside out. A strength of mine is facilitating a safe, open space to address pain, emotional distress, life difficulties, relational concerns, and any other areas we determine are important in enhancing emotional balance and well-being. My approach is collaborative and enthusiastic, and I find such meaning in helping you feel deeply known, valued, and understood.
I enjoy working with a broad array of concerns including trauma recovery, anxiety disorders, identity concerns, eating disorders, body image, emotional dysregulation, relational issues, self-esteem, chronic stress, and family issues. While my treatment style is flexible based on the person I am working with, the foundation of my therapeutic approach lies in Interpersonal Theory, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Shame Resilience, Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT), and Experiential Theory. I have training in mindfulness and meditative practices, Trauma-Informed Care, and nature-based therapeutic practices.
I am a naturist and outdoor lover at heart, and I spend a lot of time in the woods and exploring Iowa's beautiful state parks. Hiking, kayaking, camping, bird-watching, and adventuring are huge parts of my life. I also love reading, journaling, trying new coffee shops, spending time with my loved ones, and going to concerts.
